Stantec's San Diego office is looking for a skilled and professional Design Coordinator.
Responsibilities:The duties for this position include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Assisting in preparation and review of preliminary designs
- Scheduling tasks and monitoring progress and deliverables on time
- Assisting in preparation of work plans and staffing projections
- Overseeing the maintenance of job files
- Conducting project team meetings
- Anticipating and interpreting problems and recommending solutions
- Reallocating work as necessary to meet schedule deadlines
- Preparing cartoon sets of required architectural drawings
- Organizing drawings and CAD standards for project documentation
- Preparing memos, meeting minutes and correspondences to project managers and designers throughout the project
- Preparing construction documents for various segments assigned including: floor plans, sections, details, elevations, RCPs, etc.
- Developing construction details for building envelope and tenant improvements
- Conducting progress checks with team members and consultants
- Checking completed documents for coordination, compliance with program, accuracy and company quality standards, and cross-coordination with consultants’ work
- Coordinating drawings and specifications with Project Manual; revising documents after checking and coordinating
- Drawing and delineating ideas and revising drawings as necessary per change orders
- Preparing and reviewing submittals
- Responding to RFIs
- Participating in client/consultant/contractor meetings
- Performing job site visits: reviewing construction compliance with working drawings, communicates and interprets drawings for consultants/contractors, assesses onsite problems and recommends solutions
- Coordinating MEP, structural, civil, telecommunication and other consultants to incorporate engineering systems into architectural design
- Bachelor of Architecture (five year) degree or foreign equivalent
- Registered Architect for California, preferred

Eight or more years of progressive experience
- Client Type Experience - Healthcare, education
- Building Type Experience - Hospitals, medical office buildings (MOB’s), laboratories, nursing/surgery/care centers, ICU’s, NICU’s, ER’s, outpatient clinics, campus labs/science facilities
- Experience with three or more phases of the architectural process
- Understanding of mechanical, electrical, plumbing (MEP), civil and structural, integrating engineering systems into overall design to produce construction documentation
- Technical knowledge in developing construction details
- Experience in preparing working drawings
- Intermediate to advanced skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook; proficiency in Adobe products and PowerPoint desired

CAD/BIM/Revit and AutoCAD knowledge a must
- Ablility to travel and work cross-border preferred (Mexico and Canada)
- Self-motivated and able to work independently and sometimes remotely from project teams
- Highly organized; ability to multi-task and keen attention to details
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills – demonstrates thoroughness of thoughts and maturity
- Good problem-solving and time management skills with the ability to work with general guidance and supervision
- Excellent client service orientation
- Focus - ability to follow through, deliver results and meet deadlines
